WHAT TO BRING

GENERAL TOURING
For traveling in the highlands, visitors should bring both light weight and warm clothing since temperature generally vary from warm sunny days to cold nights. Although not required, quick-dry, durable travel clothing manufactured by Patagonia and ExOfficio can be easily washed and quickly dried and tend to be more comfortable.

Shoes should be comfortable for walking, high heels and light-weight sandals are not recommended. Shorts can be worn but we recommend longer, looser fitting shorts in order to respect the customs of the native people in the highlands. Lockable durable luggage or duffel bag is recommended. One large bag is preferable to several small bags. We have found that most travelers greatly underestimate the amount of film necessary and end up purchasing more expensive film in country.

MEDICAL
Travelers should consult their physicians regarding medication for high altitude problems or intestinal disorders.

The reason for the limit in luggage is so that we don't exceed our boat's capacity. If you are traveling elsewhere in Peru and require additional equipment it is possible to leave part of your luggage behind in our offices in Puerto Maldonado to be picked up when you return. If possible please prepare this the night before you get to Puerto Maldonado so that we can leave your luggage swiftly at our offices.
