This journey covers much of the great diversity of this fascinating country.
You will experience the pristine tropical jungle, visit ancient Mayan ruins, and sample some of the
ecological zones of the Caribbean coastal areas. In the jungle you will experience the lush biodiversity,
with fabulous bird life and plants and flowers and elusive mammals such as jaguars and peccaries.
Within walking distance of one of our lodges is a famous Mayan ruin. On a quiet jungle river you will
kayak through tropical forest from one lodge to a more remote one. By boat you can leave the jungle
lodge and visit lovely small islands on the Caribbean coast. In the central Maya Mountains you will
stay at the fabulous lodge built by Francis Ford Coppola and from there visit the famed Caracol Mayan
ruins. You will travel to a remote lodge in the northern part of the country, a birder's paradise,
and with another famed Mayan ruin - Lamanai.
This tour is perfect for birdwatchers of all levels. Our expert birding guides
can adapt the itinerary to meet the needs of both casual and serious birders. Belize is a birdwatcher's
paradise offering visitors nearly 600 species of both temperate and tropical birds in natural habitats
that remain largely unspoiled. Belize is one of the few countries in the world that offers a wide diversity
of bird habitat including extensive tropical forests, high mountain habitat, lowlands, savannas, pinelands,
river and streams, species-rich lagoons and countless cays along the barrier reefs. This unique birding
experience includes birding while canoeing in lagoons and along pristine rivers, visiting Maya ruins, hiking
on jungle trails, and boating through marine reserves. Your lodge accommodations and meals are of the highest
quality and the itinerary allows time to enjoy the splendid view from the deck of your room.
This adventure is ideal for individuals looking for a high quality nature experience
complemented by luxury accommodations, fine dining and outstanding service. Begin your visit to the remote
jungles of southern Belize's Toledo District, later canoe the pristine Golden Stream and then spend four
splendid days on a luxury catamaran - swimming, snorkeling and exploring the many tropical islands along
the coast of Belize.
