ITINERARY

DAY 1 US-BELIZE CITY-RIO DORADO
Arrive Belize City International. Afternoon flight south to Rio Dorado Airstrip. D
DAY 2 NIM LI PUNI ARCHEOLOGICAL SITE AND VILLAGE VISITS
Spend a full day touring remote archeological sites and visit the largest indigenous Maya population
in Belize. Nim Li Punit is a small but significant site with many carved monuments including the
second largest in the Maya world. After lunch, journey through traditional Maya villages on the
way to Lubanntun, a major trading center for the region and in ancient times a major production
center for cacao. B,L,D
DAY 3 BLUE CREEK CAVE AND ECOLOGICAL RESERVE
This morning you will visit one of the many caves in the area that was used by the ancient Maya for
rituals. A one hour hike takes you into the foothills of the Maya Mountains, where millions of years
of precipitation has created one of the largest cave systems in the world. After lunch, travel by
road to Blue Creek Cave for a cool afternoon swim and to explore the ecological reserve run by the
local Maya. B,L,D
DAY 4 BODEN CREEK RESERVE
You may hike, mountain bike or take a safari cart within a private 13,000 acre Boden Creek Reserve.
Visit the wildlife center, scarlet macaw captive breeding program and howler monkey rehabilitation
center. In the afternoon you will begin a 3-hour canoe or kayak expedition along the Golden Stream
deep into the southern Belize jungle. B,L,D
DAY 5 BODEN CREEK RESERVE
Explore the area on foot or by canoe with our experienced nature guides. At night an electric boat excursion. B,L,D
DAY 6 PORT HONDURAS MARINE RESERVE
A full day excursion to the Port Honduras Marine Reserve which offers great birding opportunities.
You may be fortunate to see the gentle but elusive manatee swimming in the many cays or along mangrove
coastline. Visit the Middle Snake Cay for a late morning swim and lunch. In the afternoon explore Punta
Vacacos Lagoon and look for Morlet's crocodile and sea rays. At the mouth of Golden Stream river
transfer to the electric boat to travel back up river to the lodge. B,L,D
DAY 7 MOUTH OF GOLDEN STREAM TO HUNTING CAY (CATAMARAN)
In the early morning depart the lodge and head down river to the mouth of Golden Stream river. Board a
49 foot luxury catamaran where you will spend the next four days sailing and exploring the southern reef.
From Port Honduras Marine Reserve sail towards the Sapodilla Cay Marine Reserve at the southern most tip of
Belize's great barrier reef. Spend the first night anchored at Hunting Cay. B,L,D
DAY 8 HUNTING CAY TO TOM OWNE'S CAY (CATAMARAN)
Sail along one of the largest continuous barrier reefs in the world. You will have a chance to
stop along the hundreds of sandy cays to enjoy a swim in the turquoise waters and relax on the
untouched beaches. Second night anchored at Tom Owen's Cay. B,L,D
DAY 9 RANGUANA CAY TO LAUGHING BIRD CAY (CATAMARAN)
The reef has abundant sea life offering excellent snorkeling opportunities. Also around the sheltered
cays you can explore the shallow areas in a sea kayak or dinghy. Overnight in Ranguana Cay. B,L,D.
DAY 10 RANGUANA CAY TO LAUGHING BIRD CAY (CATAMARAN)
In the morning sail to Little Water Cay and Queen Cay Pass where it may be possible to see the giant whale
sharks. In the afternoon you will reach Laughing Bird Cay to spend your last night on the catamaran. B,L,D
DAY 11 LAUGHING BIRD CAY TO PLACENCIA/BELIZE CITY
Set sail for Placencia for the flight back to Belize City International Airport.
